SSQ, the global legal market consulting and talent solutions company, is pleased to announce that it has successfully assisted leading Singapore law firm Rajah & Tann (“R&T”), in applying for and obtaining its practising licence for opening in Shenzhen, the southern economic and tech hub of China. This is R&T’s second branch in China after it established a Shanghai office 21 years ago.

SSQ helped R&T prepare its Shenzhen office application and supporting documents, liaise with the relevant review and approval authorities, handle various regulatory requirements to obtain their Shenzhen license.  With the strong support from the Shenzhen Qianhai Authority, SSQ provided practical advice on setting up issues through working closely with different service providers.

R&T officially opened their brand-new Shenzhen office last month (November 2024), and it is located in Qianhai, a dynamic and modern business district in Shenzhen. It offers a prime location just an hour’s drive from Hong Kong. The office will be led by Hew Kian Heong (Mr Hew’s contact details and biography here), who has more than 30 years of international experience, particularly in representing major Chinese and international firms in arbitration, litigation and mediation. Mr Hew and Linda Qiao (Linda’s contact details and biography here), who heads the Shanghai office, will co-lead R&T’s practice in China.

Founded in 1976, Rajah & Tann is one of the largest full-service law firms in Singapore. With more than 1,000 lawyers in 10 countries in Southeast Asia, Rajah & Tann Asia brings together leading law firms in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. R&T’s geographical reach also includes Singapore-based regional desks focusing on Brunei, Japan and South Asia.
